Mark 3:13-15 lays the foundations of House Church’s Discipleship Training.
“Jesus went up on a mountainside and called to him those he wanted, and they came to him. He appointed twelve that they might be with him and that he might send them out to preach and to have authority to drive out demons.”
When Mark 3 took place, Jesus’s followers were still spiritually naive and immature. They just wanted to follow Jesus and were thankful that He had called them. As such, Jesus does not expect his followers to be perfectly trained when He calls them into discipleship. Instead, training begins after you are called. Even during training, it is His grace that prevails over your incompleteness; your own self or favorable circumstances can only carry you so far. Therefore you need to fix your eyes upon Him and be courageous when following Him with faith and love. During worship service today, we will have a ceremony to appoint Children Mokjas. Sam Lee, Harang Park, Phillip Chong, Sooyoung Choi, Hana Hong, and Abigail Cho have decided to commit to become Children Mokjas. Although they are not perfect Mokja as of now, when I spoke to each one of them, I found in them a heart after Jesus. So today, we will be raising them up as Children Mokjas.
We must take note that becoming a Children Mokja is not just a commitment for a certain mission, but it is a commitment that he or she will have daily fellowship with God.
“He appointed twelve that they might be with him …” (Mark 3:14)
This is a commitment made to be with Jesus; a commitment to listen to His word, to fathom His heart in our lives (especially in a Mokjang meeting), and a commitment to experience His love and power. It is a commitment that we will fix our gaze and hearts towards Jesus, and follow Him.
And when we do all these things, we will come to love Jesus more and more. I ask for all of you to pray and bless our new Children Mokjas so that these things will happen to them. This is the first generation of Children Mokja. I pray that this will be the beginning of a continued blessing that will flow to all other children of the Hanmaum Church.
Following the shepherd…
