“For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function,
so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.
We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us.”
(Romans 12:4-6)
Starting from last week, and this week as well, we have been holding a ‘Ministry Fair’. We have been introducing the ministries of our churches and encouraging you to join. A church is not a building, but a community of holy ones. The bible calls such a community, the body of Christ. The body is not made up of one part but of many. In the same way, each church member is unique and different, yet they make up one body in Christ. Similar to how each part has a different role in our body, the gift given to each church member is different as well. When they start to use their given gifts and serve the community, the church community will start to assume the Lord’s ministry with confidence.
For those who have been serving the church, I hope it will be an opportunity to open your eyes to other ministries. For those who have focused on serving the same ministry for a long time, it might be a good idea to take this fair as an opportunity for change. It is important to understand other ministries and their situations and who knows? You might discover new gifts in a new ministry as well.
I hope that everyone in both churches serves at least one ministry. If you cannot decide by yourself, please ask the Mokjas or me. There are ministries which are impactful but less stressful as well. Especially, the new ‘Thank-you Team’ and ‘Culture Ministry Team’ are the ministries that I am pushing hard for this coming year. They are ministries that anyone can participate in and enjoy.
You should have no trouble understanding what the ‘Culture Ministry Team’ is about from the name; however, the ‘Thank-you Team’ may bring more curiosity. It is a part of the “thank you” movement happening in our church. It is a special task force within the church that purposely gives thanks. ^^ In order to join this team, you must purposely and consciously express gratitude towards other people every Sunday. Furthermore, when we start to voluntarily share thanks during Sunday service, you will play the role of inviting and encouraging thanks-givers.
If you happen to have a new ministry in mind that you want to explore, please feel free to talk with me. You are a part of our church body. I urge you to serve the church through whatever shape or form.
