A few days ago, the classical music team of the organization, Trueworshippers 12, came to perform for our church. Many of us, including myself, experienced a different level of emotion, excitement, and spiritual presence that we had not experienced before in classical music performances: one where you could feel the grace of God, have tears well up in your eye.
Grace and tears. My soul reacted with grace and tears when it realized that the concert was not a recital, but worship. Watching the performance made me think of the woman who poured out her most expensive alabaster jar of perfume as worship to God. The countless hours invested to achieve expertise in their instrument, the tears they shed alone in their room, and using the precious treasure they earned to then give glory to God, pouring themselves out in their lives as worship to Him, praying that not I, but the Lord be revealed through the performance. In front of their worship, my soul reacted.
At the center of the team was a worshiper of God in Pastor Ghilho Choo. I see how the spirituality of someone who has loved and worshiped God throughout his lifetime is flowing out into the entire team. He told the members to “reach out to God before reaching out for your instrument” to help keep the direction of their hearts from swaying. Further, he also took in the role of ‘worship leader’ through communicating with the audience in between the pieces.
The grace of God experienced through such performance was truly great and astonishing. It was a time of waking up again to God, of confessing our love, of repenting, of comforting; a time of hope. A worship characterized by the pouring out of perfume was truly powerful.
Pastor Choo and the Trueworshippers12 team left one word in my heart:
“Worship”
And delicately packaged with it an ‘excitement’ and ‘dream’ for the future.
