“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.” (John 3:16-17)
When I heard the news that we are on the precipice of a domestic violence crisis and it is caused by coronavirus pandemic, I laughed because it sounded like a joke. Thinking about it however, it is really sad situation we are in now. Everyone in the family deserves to be protected and loved but it is heart breaking to realize that for the victims of domestic violence, being forced to be confined with the family is a torture. My heart also ached to hear a story about a kid who had to face death alone without his Mom and Dad being on the side.
Hearing the mourning from all edges of the world, it seems like this world, which our Lord so loved to save it, looks clearer. Today is the beginning of the Passion Week. This is the time to reflect on the suffering and pain Jesus personally had to endure for our salvation. This is also the last week of Daniel Fast Prayer our Hanmaum church has been observing. I pray that we can feel what our Lord feels this week.
“Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering” (Isaiah 53:4)
